Experience

Production embedded AI on edge hardware. From Marine Corps to engineering leadership.

  1. Director of Software Engineering

    Verisma Systems, Inc.
    Jun 2026–Present

Enterprise healthcare software delivered in a regulated (HIPAA) environment, where AI-native engineering must coexist with strict security, compliance, and governance standards.

    • Lead technical execution for enterprise healthcare application development, building and mentoring high-performing engineering teams while staying hands-on in architecture, code, and reviews.
    • Operationalize an AI-native engineering model in a regulated (HIPAA) environment: AI-assisted specification, test generation, implementation, and code review as default practice, with human intent, judgment, and approval in the loop.
    • Own cloud-first architecture on Azure across C#/.NET, React/TypeScript, and SQL Server, with CI/CD, automated testing, and security scanning that hold AI-generated artifacts to enterprise standards.
    • Champion agent-based development workflows (Claude Code, AI-assisted code review) and lead architecture and specification reviews focused on decision quality over task throughput.
    • Own release cadence — branching, feature flags, CAB, and delivery across environments — driving predictable delivery through flow and quality metrics.
  2. Founder & Engineering Lead

    Autojuris AI, Inc.
    Dec 2025–Jun 2026

Legal professionals spend hours manually reviewing documents for contradictions and inconsistencies. Existing tools focus on search and organization but don't help lawyers validate document content at scale. Customer discovery revealed that lawyers don't trust AI for final decisions — they want AI as a second set of eyes that flags potential issues for their review. The real value is surfacing contradictions that would take hours to find manually.

    • AI-powered legal workflow platform. Iris shipped to GA on the Microsoft Marketplace. Bootstrapped 7-person team. 3 enterprise law firm design partners.
    • Built production AI evaluation infrastructure (DSPy with GEPA optimizer, F1 lifted from 40% to 75% in one week).
    • Multi-tenant API platform on Cloudflare with full observability and audit logging.
  3. Acting Chief Executive Officer (Company Wind-Down)

    PreAct Technologies
    Jun 2025–Nov 2025

LiDAR-based perception systems combining real-time sensing, embedded AI, and sensor fusion for vehicle protection applications.

    • Stepped into CEO role to execute orderly wind-down of 25-person LiDAR and edge-AI company.
    • Maintained production system continuity for the company's largest customer through final delivery; preserved IP for downstream licensing.
  4. Director of Software Engineering

    PreAct Technologies
    Apr 2024–Jun 2025
    • Led 25-person engineering organization across 4 functional teams. Production embedded AI on edge hardware for a real-time rear obstacle-detection system.
    • Reduced merge-to-canary deployment time from 2 weeks to 4 hours (84x improvement).
    • Drove org-wide adoption of AI-assisted development (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) with measurable PR throughput outcomes.
  5. Engineering Manager

    PreAct Technologies
    Nov 2022–Apr 2024
    • Player-coach driving the company's pivot to a LiDAR-based protection system. Contributed directly to embedded AI and sensor fusion code while introducing structured engineering processes into a previously ad-hoc engineering culture.
  6. Lead Software Development Engineer

    Opsivity
    2021–2022
    • Led 12-person geographically distributed development team building a connected knowledge base SaaS platform for field service teams.
    • Managed full product lifecycle from architecture through production deployment.
    • First leadership role managing a distributed offshore engineering team at scale.
  7. Software Engineer

    Sigma Design
    2020–2021
    • Built manufacturing automation and test systems for industrial clients; designed full-stack solutions that reduced manual testing time by 40%.
  8. Software Engineer

    Polaris
    2020
    • Built and maintained production line software for powersports vehicle manufacturing systems.
  9. Software Engineer

    RealWear
    2019–2020
    • Developed Android applications for industrial AR wearables used in manufacturing and field service environments.
  10. Software Engineer

    nLIGHT
    2017–2019
    • Built test automation and data analytics tools for high-power laser manufacturing; delivered production monitoring dashboards used daily by engineering teams.
  11. Gunnery Sergeant (E-7)

    US Marine Corps
    Jun 1993–Jun 2013
    • 20-year career across leadership and technical roles, culminating as a Gunnery Sergeant leading organizations of up to 200 personnel in operational and training environments.
    • Recognized for operational excellence, team development, and the ability to deliver mission-critical results under pressure.
